These Portherhouse steaks are cut to 1″ thickness and weigh 22 ounces each. Porterhouse is a great steak, with 1/2 of the steak being a NY Strip and the other a Tenderloin, separated by a bone. These are US CHOICE.
The Porterhouse is an excellent steak if you don’t want to or cannot grill outside. Many people choose to prepare this cut on a stove top/oven. Heat a skillet so that it is extremely hot.
After letting your Porterhouse rest to room temp, sprinkle it with coarse salt, pepper and lightly drizzle with olive oil. Place on the skillet and cook for less than 2 minutes per side. After the steak has achieved a nice crust, put the skillet into the oven at 350 to finish.
The length of time will depend on the thickness of your steak. These steaks are 1″ thick, so it should not take more than 5 minutes or so. You can also add butter to the top of your steak when placing in the oven. When you remove from the oven, let the steak sit before serving.
